Croatia has gained a new, 13th nature park Zagorske gore
Croatia has officially designated its 13th nature park, Zagorske gore, comprising areas of natural beauty in the northern part of the country.
The Croatian Parliament has approved the decision to protect the beautiful mountains and hills in northern Croatia, leading to the official designation of the 13th nature park, Zagorske gore. This new park spans two counties, Krapina-Zagorje and Varaždin, encompassing regions such as Ivanščica, Ravne gore, Strahinjčice, and Maceljske gore. This addition marks a significant expansion in the conservation efforts of Croatia, which previously had eight national parks and twelve nature parks. The last area to receive nature park status before this was Dinara in 2021, while the youngest national park is Northern Velebit, designated in 1999.
