New rule from April 1! Prices of FASTag annual pass have increased, will have to pay this much
The price of the FASTag Annual Pass for private vehicles has increased from ₹3,000 to ₹3,075, effective April 1, 2023.
The Indian government has announced a slight increase in the price of the FASTag Annual Pass, which facilitates toll payments on national highways, effective April 1, 2023. According to an official order by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the new price for private vehicles will be ₹3,075, up from the previous price of ₹3,000. This change aims to continue promoting digital payment methods and improve the efficiency of toll collection on highways.
The FASTag scheme was initially launched on Independence Day last year, with the objective of easing the hassle of frequent toll payments and to encourage digital toll collection. With a valid FASTag, private vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans can avail of the pass, making highway travel more convenient. Once activated, the annual pass is valid for one year or up to a maximum of 200 trips, whichever comes first, providing significant benefits for regular highway users.
This increase in the FASTag Annual Pass's price is part of the government's ongoing efforts to streamline toll collection on national highways, making electronic payments more prevalent and convenient for drivers. As highway travel becomes more popular and digital payment adoption increases, the government seeks to balance operational costs while encouraging users to adopt digital payment technologies.
