OmenaArt Foundation Pavilion wins best at Malta Biennale. Gala against the backdrop of Caravaggio

The OmenaArt Foundation Pavilion won the Best Pavilion award at the Malta Biennale 2026 for its thematic exhibition "Redefining. Polish-Ghanaian Textile Narratives."

The prestigious Malta Biennale 2026 award ceremony took place at the Oratory of St. John's Co-Cathedral in Valletta, celebrating the best in contemporary art from the Mediterranean region. A central highlight of the event was the announcement of the Maltese Falcon award recipients, recognizing exceptional artistic contributions among 28 pavilions, including seven national and 21 thematic displays. Organized by an international jury, the awards covered various categories such as Best Artwork and Best Pavilion.

This year's Best Pavilion award was claimed by the Polish thematic pavilion titled "Redefining. Polish-Ghanaian Textile Narratives," curated by Natalia Bradbury and featuring large-scale textile installations by artists Marta Nadolle, Eliza Proszczuk, and Ernestina Mansa Doku. The artists participated in an artistic residency in Malta, collaborating to create works that represent a blend of their Polish and Ghanaian heritage through textile art. The display not only showcases the individual talents of its creators but also emphasizes the importance of cultural dialogue and diversity in contemporary art practices.

The recognition of the OmenaArt Foundation's pavilion underscores the critical role of cultural institutions in fostering creativity and promoting cross-cultural exchanges. The Malta Biennale serves as a vital platform for artists from various backgrounds to share their narratives and engage with audiences, thus contributing to a more inclusive understanding of contemporary art in the Mediterranean. This award highlights the growing influence of diverse cultural perspectives in shaping the contemporary art landscape.
