Kwara PDP chieftain urges job creation
A PDP chieftain in Kwara State has called for prioritizing job creation and youth empowerment to combat crime and unemployment.
Olusola Moses, a notable member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, has publicly called for the government at all levels to focus on creating job opportunities and empowering youth as crucial strategies to mitigate crime and unemployment in the country. He made these remarks during an empowerment program aimed at benefiting over 500 youths, women, and small-scale entrepreneurs in the Oke-Ero Local Government Area, where he emphasized the importance of connecting economic support with crime reduction efforts.
At the Oke-Ero Youth Summit held in Iloffa, Moses distributed cash grants between N50,000 and N100,000 to various beneficiaries, including artisans, traders, transporters, and commercial motorcycle riders from multiple communities within the local government. By providing these financial resources, he aimed to assist individuals in expanding their businesses and fostering economic independence, which he believes is essential for reducing the appeal of criminal involvement among the youth.
Moses reiterated that empowerment through financial assistance and economic opportunities is a vital step toward creating a safer society. He underlined that investing in youth through programs like this, which not only provide immediate financial support but also pave the way for long-term economic growth, could be instrumental in transforming the lives of many and reducing the factors that lead to crime in Nigeria. His advocacy for these initiatives illustrates a proactive approach towards addressing unemployment and social issues in the region.
