Body of man found after drowning in Botucatu river

A 35-year-old man's body was recovered from the Tietê River in Botucatu, São Paulo, following a drowning incident.

In Botucatu, São Paulo, the body of a 35-year-old man named Raildo Vieira Rocha Júnior was retrieved from the Tietê River after he drowned on Friday afternoon. The local police were notified by the Fire Department at around 1 PM about the drowning incident. It was reported that the man was hired from Guarulhos to work on a construction site in the Rio Bonito neighborhood of Botucatu, where the incident occurred.

Witness accounts indicated that the victim decided to swim in the river after lunch but quickly disappeared beneath the surface of the water. Rescue efforts by the firefighters ultimately led to the recovery of his body, but unfortunately, he was found lifeless. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident, and the Scientific Police were called to the scene to conduct an inspection.

The body has been sent to the Medical Legal Institute (IML) to undergo necropsy examinations. This tragic event raises concerns about safety in local water bodies and highlights the risks associated with swimming in potentially hazardous environments without proper precautions.
