Accident between three cars leaves two people injured in Volta Redonda

A serious car accident occurred on Saturday afternoon in Volta Redonda, Brazil, involving three vehicles and resulting in two injuries. The incident took place around noon on Avenida Almirante Adalberto de Barros Nunes in the Vila Mury neighborhood. According to the Military Police, one of the vehicles involved in the crash had already been removed from the scene by the time authorities arrived.
Witness accounts indicate that one of the drivers involved reported that another car ran a red light, colliding with the side of their vehicle. Emergency services, including the Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência (Samu), promptly attended to the driver of the vehicle that allegedly ran the red light and transported them to São João Batista Hospital. This swift medical response likely prevented further injuries and highlighted the efficiency of local emergency services.
After receiving medical treatment and being discharged, the driver suspected of causing the accident returned to the scene to face further scrutiny. Subsequently, they were taken to the Municipal Guard's headquarters to undergo a breathalyzer test to determine if alcohol had influenced their driving. This additional step underscores the authorities' commitment to road safety and accountability in traffic incidents, aiming to address the underlying issues of reckless driving and promote safer roads in Volta Redonda.
