Korydallos Prison: Two inmates dead – Investigation into the circumstances of their deaths
An investigation is underway into the deaths of two inmates at Korydallos Prison in Greece, who were participating in a drug rehabilitation program.
An investigation is currently underway concerning the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two inmates at Korydallos Prison, Greece's main correctional facility. According to a statement from the Ministry of Citizen Protection and the General Secretariat for Anti-Crime Policy, both inmates had been part of a therapeutic rehabilitation program implemented at the facility in collaboration with the National Organization for Prevention and Treatment of Addictions since early March.
Following the unfortunate incidents, the concerned health personnel were promptly alerted, and a team from the Organization visited the prison to assist in investigating the situations. The Ministry of Citizen Protection stated that upon conducting checks on those involved in the rehabilitation program, no findings emerged that indicated any issues pertaining to the administration of therapeutic treatment.
Additionally, it is emphasized by the ministry that all therapeutic programs are conducted under medical supervision, further indicating that the investigation will seek to validate and clarify the conditions leading to the inmates' deaths. This event raises significant questions about inmate welfare and health management in correctional facilities, particularly concerning drug rehabilitation efforts in Greece.
