Marwan Muasher: Israel is the biggest winner and what comes after the war is more dangerous than before

Jordanian Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher claims that Israel is the primary beneficiary of the war aimed at Iran, warning of greater dangers ahead in the region.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, former Jordanian Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher stated that Israel is the biggest winner from the ongoing conflict targeting Iran, asserting that the war has elevated Israel's confidence to pursue its expansionist goals without facing substantial Arab or international deterrents. He warned that the next battles could erupt in Lebanon and the West Bank, indicating a shift in regional dynamics. Muasher elaborated on the miscalculations made by the United States regarding Iran's resilience, emphasizing that military might alone does not determine the outcome of wars.

Muasher highlighted what he sees as a significant strategic error on Iran's part for attacking Gulf states and neighboring countries like Jordan, suggesting that these actions will result in Iran finding itself increasingly isolated on both regional and international fronts once the current conflict concludes. He posited that while Iran may emerge militarily weaker, a change in its political regime is unlikely because history shows that aerial strikes do not lead to successful systemic changes in a country’s government.

Additionally, Muasher indicated that Israel appears to be aiming to reinstate the son of the Shah in power in Iran, a plan that he believes lacks domestic support within Iran and is not clearly backed by the Trump administration. This assessment points to the complexity of the situation in the region, raising concerns about the implications of Israel’s actions and the potential fallout for neighboring countries as tensions escalate, particularly with the prospect of further confrontations in the near future.
