Overlooking the 'Al-Aqsa' Closed: A Jerusalem Teacher Certifies a Student from Bahrain
A teacher from Jerusalem certifies a Bahraini student in Quran recitation from a vantage point near the closed Al-Aqsa mosque.
In an emotional ceremony, Hanadi Al-Halwani, a teacher from Jerusalem, certified her student Zainab Mohammed Abdul Qader Al-Awadi from Bahrain in the recitation of the Quran, all while being positioned on a hill overlooking the closed Al-Aqsa mosque. The recitation was performed after a year-long effort during which Zainab read the Quran aloud, with the certification specifically noting that it was granted based on her reading from the Mus'haf, rather than from memory.
The decision to conduct the certification from such a significant location was influenced by the recent restrictions imposed by Israeli authorities on Al-Aqsa mosque since February. Hanadi shared in an interview that, due to the mosque's closure on February 28, she and Zainab chose this particular vantage point, situated on the Mount of Olives, to complete their spiritual connection during the holy month of Ramadan, particularly the last ten days, which are considered highly auspicious.
Their prayers at the conclusion of the certification ceremony highlighted their hopes for the liberation of Al-Aqsa mosque and the acceptance of their Quranic recitation. The closure of Al-Aqsa has raised concerns among Muslim communities about access to their holy sites, adding a layer of significance to their actions and prayers during this pivotal religious period.
