Elections reject the merger of municipalities
Elections are currently being held concerning the proposed merger of Árnishreppur and Kaldrananeshreppur municipalities in Iceland.
Elections are taking place from now until March 28 regarding a proposal to merge the municipalities of Árnishreppur and Kaldrananeshreppur in Iceland. Residents of the municipalities, aged sixteen and older by the end of the voting period, are eligible to vote on the proposed merger. A collaborative committee representing both municipalities has stated that merging the municipalities could strengthen the community while ensuring residents have access to necessary services without having to surrender their influence or proximate services. The committee has expressed that this merger would be a beneficial option for the residents. The collaborative committee has introduced the merger proposal and shared its vision with residents during town hall meetings held last week, which were well-attended as residents engaged in discussions and raised questions regarding the potential merger.
