His family released a statement indicating that his death occurred after a long period of intensive treatment following a complex and significant surgical procedure. Campbell's tenure with Motörhead spanned from the 1980s until the band's dissolution in 2015 after the passing of legendary frontman Lemmy Kilmister. Alongside his contributions to Motörhead, Campbell later formed a new band, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons, with his sons, which was active until recently with scheduled performances across Europe.
