Experts warn of the escape of ISIS elements and activation of the battlefield unit in Iraq
Experts are warning that security tensions in Iraq are rising, especially following attacks near the US embassy in Baghdad, amidst fears of ISIS resurgence.
Experts are sounding the alarm about escalating security tensions in Iraq, especially in light of recent attacks targeting the US embassy in Baghdad. The situation is further complicated by rising regional tensions and an increase in assaults on sites associated with the United States within Iraq. Security expert Fadhil Abu Raghef suggests that the Iraqi government is actively working to manage the situation through various political and security channels to prevent the country from slipping into a wider conflict.
Abu Raghef outlines a four-pronged approach the Iraqi government is employing to address these challenges. Firstly, there is indirect communication with armed factions aimed at deterring them from carrying out operations that could threaten national security and provoke further escalation. Secondly, the Iraqi authorities are attempting to persuade the United States against conducting military strikes within Iraqi borders, whether targeting fixed or moving objectives, to avoid expanding the confrontation further.
Additionally, the Iraqi government is engaging diplomatically with several Arab nations to seek a resolution to the ongoing crisis and to de-escalate the rising tensions in the region. Finally, on a security level, Iraqi forces are ramping up their efforts to maintain stability and counter any potential threats, particularly from ISIS as concerns mount over their remaining elements escaping and regrouping in the country.
