Students go viral by building a bridge with popsicle sticks capable of supporting over 430 kg: 'Really extraordinary'
Five Brazilian engineering students gained viral fame after constructing a popsicle stick bridge that can support over 430 kilograms during a strength test.
In São José do Rio Preto, Brazil, five students have captured the internet's attention by successfully building a bridge entirely out of popsicle sticks that can bear a weight exceeding 430 kg. The construction was undertaken by fifth-year civil engineering students from the Centro Universitário de Rio Preto, who documented their project through a video that has accumulated over 29 million views since its release last year. The bridge's impressive strength was acknowledged even by the Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy of São Paulo (Crea-SP), highlighting the ingenuity and skill of the students.
The bridge's capacity to support such substantial weight is particularly noteworthy, equivalent to the combined weight of six adult individuals or approximately nine bags of cement each weighing 50 kg. This feat not only demonstrates the theoretical knowledge gained in their studies but also showcases their ability to apply this knowledge in a practical context, enriching their educational experience and sparking interest in engineering careers among their peers.
