Malpensa, first test in Italy of the OLGA robot that monitors biodiversity

A new robot named OLGA has been tested at Malpensa Airport in Italy to monitor biodiversity using advanced technology and artificial intelligence.

The OLGA robot, developed under the European project OLGA – hOListic & Green Airports, has conducted its first trial in Italy at Milan Malpensa Airport and the Ticino Park. This initiative aims to enhance the protection and monitoring of biodiversity through cutting-edge technology, following its successful implementation at Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport. The use of such technology represents a significant advancement in sustainable practices for airport management and environmental preservation.

Equipped with sophisticated sensors and detection systems, OLGA is designed to operate in complex natural environments, where it gathers crucial data regarding habitat status, the presence of plant species (especially invasive ones), and environmental conditions of green areas within the airport premises and surrounding park.
