The Indian two-wheeler market experienced significant growth in February 2026 with record sales of over 1.8 million units.
February 2026 proved to be an outstanding month for the Indian two-wheeler market, as automobile companies reported remarkable sales figures. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the industry achieved a record number of sales, with the two-wheeler segment growing by an impressive 35.2%. Overall, a total of 1,871,406 units were sold, a significant increase from 1,384,605 units sold in February of the previous year. The growing demand reflects the resurgence of consumer confidence and a shift towards personal mobility solutions.
In terms of sales by category, scooters saw a remarkable increase of 42.3%, totaling 729,774 units sold. Motorcycles also demonstrated substantial growth, with a 30.8% increase leading to sales of 1,096,537 units. The increased demand for both types of vehicles underscores a shift in consumer preferences towards two-wheelers as a practical transport solution. Major players in the market, such as Hero MotoCorp, Honda, and TVS, have all contributed significantly to these sales figures, showcasing fierce competition among manufacturers.
Hero MotoCorp emerged as the top seller with 457,826 units sold, followed closely by Honda which sold 431,000 units. TVS completed the top three with sales of 333,935 units. These retail sales numbers indicate not only the health of the two-wheeler market but also highlight the importance of affordable transportation in India amidst an evolving economic landscape. The upward trend in two-wheeler sales is expected to continue as consumers seek cost-effective mobility options despite broader economic challenges, signaling positive growth potential in the sector ahead.
