Osun PDP group seeks Wike’s intervention
A pressure group within the Osun State PDP has called for intervention from the national party leadership to prevent the collapse of its structure in the state.
The Reset Group of Osun PDP, a pressure group within the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, has reached out to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and the party's national caretaker leadership for urgent intervention. They are concerned about what they perceive as the impending collapse of the party's structures in the state due to ongoing leadership issues. They argue that the current leadership under Sunday Bisi is detrimental to the party’s unity and cohesion, causing members to consider aligning with rival political platforms.
In their letter, signed by the group's President Akinwale Oyetunde and Secretary Adeyeye Olugbenga, they formally urged for the dissolution of the PDP State Working Committee led by Bisi. They highlight that this leadership crisis has intensified in recent times, making it critical for the national party to step in to restore order and strategic direction within the Osun Chapter. The situation has created a sense of urgency among party members who fear that without intervention, the PDP may face significant losses in support and representation.
The request for intervention suggests a deeper conflict within the party and highlights the challenges faced by political organizations in maintaining unity amidst leadership disputes. The outcome of this situation could significantly impact the party's ability to perform in future elections, especially if the internal conflicts remain unresolved, indicating a precarious future for the PDP in Osun State.
