Chinese Fighters Disappeared Around Taiwan: What's Behind the Halt
Taiwan's Ministry of Defense reported no sightings of Chinese military aircraft in its air defense identification zone, marking an unusual pause in frequent incursions.
Between February 27 and March 12, Taiwan's Ministry of Defense recorded zero flights of the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) operating around Taiwan, a significant and unusual break in the nearly daily military activity that China has maintained for the past two years. This cessation of Chinese military aircraft, which typically included fighter planes and other military aircraft entering Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) as part of training drills and routine operations to exert pressure on Taiwan's defenses, coincides with the commencement of Operation 'Epic Fury' in the Persian Gulf. Interestingly, this halt in aerial incursions was only interrupted by two incidents on March 6.
