Pavasović-Visković: Poljud is in Poor Condition, Hajduk Needs a New Stadium

The president of Hajduk Split's supervisory board emphasizes the urgent need for a modern stadium for the club's future.

Ljubo Pavasović-Visković, the head of the supervisory board for HNK Hajduk Split, has expressed serious concerns regarding the club's infrastructure, particularly highlighting the deteriorating state of Stadion Poljud. He pointed out that the longevity and functionality of the club are heavily reliant on the development of a new, modern stadium, as maintaining the current venue is increasingly unfeasible. The emotional ties he has to Stadion Poljud make this situation more complex, but he insists that an upgrade could lead to more problems than solutions due to the building's existing condition.

Moreover, Pavasović-Visković notes that Hajduk cannot independently dictate the terms of any potential stadium project, as the ownership lies with the City of Split, which ultimately has the authority to decide on the future of the stadium. His remarks also extend beyond the club’s needs, calling attention to the broader requirement for Croatia to enhance its sports infrastructure, including adequate representative stadiums in key cities like Split and Zagreb that can host significant matches and national team encounters.

In light of this, there is a pressing need for discussions and actions surrounding this infrastructure to ensure that Hajduk Split can build a prosperous future and maintain its status as a prominent club within Croatian football, reflecting the community's support and expectations for quality sports facilities.
