In a troubling incident in Dhampur, Bijnor, the house of RSS district coordinator Vipin Chauhan was attacked by members of another community residing nearby. Following the assault, the attackers not only vandalized the home but also stole jewelry worth millions of rupees from a cupboard. This incident has heightened tensions in the area, prompting a significant police response to quell potential unrest. Officers were deployed to the site to ensure the situation was managed and to restore order.
Eyewitness accounts, including that of local neighbor Amit Sharma, indicated that the assailant Sohail climbed to the rooftop of Chauhan's residence using a ladder. Initial vandalism occurred at Sharma's residence followed by the onslaught on the RSS coordinator's home, where decorative pots were smashed and valuable items were forcibly removed from their place. The reported theft involved jewelry estimated to be worth four to five hundred thousand rupees, accentuating the severity of the criminal act.
In response to the incident, there has been unrest among local Hindu groups, who have expressed outrage at the assault on their community’s leader. Attempts were made by these groups to retaliate against the assailants, with plans to vandalize their properties as well.
