US attacks Kharg, strategic island from which Iran exports 90% of its oil
President Donald Trump announced a significant military strike on Kharg Island, which is crucial for Iran's oil exports.
On Friday, President Donald Trump announced that the United States had launched an attack on Kharg Island, located approximately 30 kilometers off the coast of Iran. This island is strategically important as it serves as a key point for over 90% of Iran's oil exports. In his statement via Truth Social, Trump referred to the military operation as one of the most powerful bombings in Middle Eastern history, claiming that all military targets on the island were completely obliterated. He emphasized that, for now, he chose not to destroy the island's oil infrastructure, although he warned that he might reconsider this decision if Iran interferes with the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
