Suspects of killing and dismembering a woman in SC used the victim's car to dispose of body parts, police say

The suspects in the murder and dismemberment of real estate agent Luciani Aparecida Estivalet Freitas in Florianópolis reportedly used her own car to transport her remains for disposal, according to police.

The Police Civil of Santa Catarina revealed that three suspects are involved in the gruesome murder and dismemberment of real estate agent Luciani Aparecida Estivalet Freitas, aged 47, in Florianópolis. The police report indicated that the suspects used the trunk of Freitas' own car to transport her body parts to a rural area where they were discarded. The investigation has determined that the remains were divided into five packages and discarded in a creek after being found over 100 kilometers away in Major Gercino.

The discovery of the body parts came after extensive efforts by law enforcement, who are treating the case as a robbery-murder, or latrocínio. Notably, all three suspects, the victim, and several witnesses resided in the same housing complex in the Santinho neighborhood, a known tourist region in the northern part of the island. The proximity of the suspects to the victim raises concerns regarding community safety and the potential for deeper connections among the individuals involved.

The victim's vehicle was located nearby after one of the suspects revealed its location, indicating a troubling level of premeditation regarding the crime. As the investigation continues, authorities are delving into the motives and backgrounds of both the suspects and the victim to piece together the events leading up to this horrific act.
