A robot was arrested for horrifying a woman on the street: she had to be hospitalized

A humanoid robot was detained in Macau after startling a 70-year-old woman, who subsequently required hospitalization due to the shock.

In a rare incident, a humanoid robot in Macau was apprehended after causing a 70-year-old woman's hospitalization due to fright. The event unfolded on Rua Sul do Patane around 9 PM, as reported by local authorities. The woman was momentarily distracted, looking at her phone, when she perceived the robot approaching from behind, which startled her intensely.

The local police, from the Public Security Police Force (PSP), described the situation as unprecedented, as robots are not typically involved in such incidents. Video footage captured by bystanders showed a tense exchange between the robot and the woman, during which she expressed her distress by exclaiming, "You’re racing my heart! You have a lot to do, so what sense does it make for you to be doing this? Are you completely crazy?" This interaction quickly gained traction on social media platforms, drawing both curiosity and concern from the public.

The police confirmed that there was no physical contact between the robot and the woman, which mitigated the situation legally. However, the incident raises broader questions about the public’s comfort with increasingly sophisticated technology in everyday settings. It highlights the potential for misunderstandings and the psychological impact these advancements may have on individuals, particularly the elderly, who may not be accustomed to interacting with such machines.
