After invading a house and urinating on his ex's clothes, a hospital director has been sentenced to prison in Sorocaba
A hospital director in Sorocaba, Brazil, has had his preventive imprisonment ordered following a breach of protective measures against his ex-partner, marked by violent behavior.
Bruno Toldo, the 45-year-old director of the Conjunto Hospitalar de Sorocaba (CHS), has had his preventive imprisonment ordered due to allegations of domestic violence. The court found that Toldo violated a protective measure by returning to his ex-partner's residence just hours after being served. Upon his return, he reportedly urinated on her clothing and caused damage to the property, behavior that indicates a severe disrespect for the legal protections afforded to his ex-partner.
The decision to imprison Toldo stems from actions taken under Brazil's Maria da Penha Law, which aims to prevent violence against women. Judge Ana Cristina Paz Neri Vignola expressed serious concerns regarding Toldo's behavior, which was described as demonstrating a "violent personality". It was detailed that he has frequently made threats against the victim, underscoring the potential for further violence and clear risk to her physical safety.
The judge ruled that alternative protective measures would not adequately ensure the victim's safety, leading to the conclusion that incarceration was the only viable course of action. This case highlights ongoing issues of domestic violence in Brazil and the legal system's efforts to respond effectively to such incidents, raising awareness about the importance of protective measures in these situations.
