Developed by Project Eagle, a defense company associated with former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, these drones were first utilized in Ukraine in 2024, showcasing their capabilities in a real combat environment.

The Merops drones are not only efficient but also commercially viable, with a price tag ranging from $14,000 to $15,000 each. However, bulk purchases are expected to lower the cost considerably, potentially to between $3,000 and $5,000 per interceptor. This affordability provides a significant advantage over Iranian Shahed drones, which are priced at a minimum of $20,000 each and are being deployed in various operations against American forces and their allies in the region.
