In a shocking incident in Lahti, Finland, the East Finnish Court of Appeal delivered a verdict on a brutal murder case where a 69-year-old entrepreneur was killed in an exceptionally horrifying manner. The victim was first assaulted by four men who had intentions of robbing him; after he was beaten, they left him in his own house which they subsequently set on fire. The immediate cause of death was the inhalation of toxic smoke from the fire ignited by his attackers.

The court revealed that the attackers, consisting of four men, had entered the victim's home with the intent to rob him. They forced him to transfer money to another bank account and coerced him into taking out payday loans under duress. In addition to stealing his mobile phone and computer, they brutally beat him using fists and a glass object, rendering him incapacitated before committing the arson.
