Truck with 27 tons of meat has overturned and is blocking a roundabout
A roundabout in Ribe, Denmark, is blocked after a truck carrying 27 tons of meat overturned, likely due to speeding.
On Friday, a roundabout in Ribe was blocked following the overturning of a truck transporting 27 tons of meat. The incident occurred as the truck allegedly entered the roundabout too quickly, leading to its tumble. According to Sune Loklindt, the duty officer from South and South Jutland Police, the roundabout between Haulundvej and Haderslevvej will be closed for cleanup operations that are expected to last through the night.
The police report indicates that all of the meat in the truck must be offloaded before the vehicle can be rightsed. Traffic around the roundabout has been impacted, and while there is free passage for vehicles coming from the east on Haderslevvej, those approaching from the south on Haulundvej face complete blockage. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes if they are traveling south.
This incident highlights the potential dangers associated with transporting large loads, particularly on roundabouts where speed management is crucial. The police emphasize road safety, urging drivers to adhere to speed limits to prevent such accidents, which can have significant impacts on local traffic and logistics.
