Marine engineer jumped into the sea to escape attack, died - Devanandan Singh from Bhagalpur
Devanandan Singh, a marine engineer from Bhagalpur, India, died after jumping into the sea to escape an attack on the ship he was aboard in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a tragic incident related to the ongoing conflict in West Asia involving America, Israel, and Iran, 52-year-old Devanandan Singh from Rani Bamiya village in Bhagalpur, Bihar, lost his life. Singh was on his way back to India on a Thai ship when it came under attack near the Strait of Hormuz, a highly strategic waterway. The attack reportedly occurred early on Wednesday around 2:30 AM, escalating concerns surrounding maritime security in the region.
Efforts were made by Singh to save himself; he jumped into the sea during the attack in hopes of surviving. Unfortunately, rescue teams that responded were unable to save him. Devanandan Singh held a significant position as the Vice President of Bravo Ship Management Company in Mumbai and had extensive experience in the maritime sector, making his loss particularly felt within his professional community.
The news of Singh's death was conveyed to his family by a company official early Thursday morning. This tragic event underscores the dangers faced by marine workers in conflict zones, particularly in strategic maritime areas like the Strait of Hormuz, where such attacks, particularly amid rising geopolitical tensions, pose severe risks to civilian lives at sea.
