Tomingas' coach Tobreluts: we are focusing on the new season
Tuuli Tomingas' coach, Indrek Tobreluts, announced that they are shifting their attention to the next season due to Tomingas' current health issues.
Indrek Tobreluts, the coach of Estonian biathlete Tuuli Tomingas, has provided an update on her health status and indicated that they are already focusing on the next competitive season. Following Tomingas' illness before the Otepää World Cup event, she was unable to compete, which led to Kretel Kaljumäe stepping in her place. Tobreluts described her condition as involving a sore throat and nasal congestion but clarified that it was nothing severe enough to warrant hospitalization. However, Tomingas’ overall well-being did not meet the standards required for performing at high levels in competitions.
Tobreluts emphasized that there seemed to be no purpose in having Tomingas compete in her current state, as it would not serve her long-term health or career. He mentioned the importance of recovering both physically and mentally to ensure she returns to form, indicating that this season's performance has not met expectations and suggests a need for a breather to get back on track. With a clear plan to take a step back, they aim to properly prepare for the upcoming season and regain the momentum that Tomingas had hoped to achieve during this competition year.
Tomingas was seen as the leading hope for Estonian biathlon at the start of the season, but the campaign has not unfolded as anticipated. The coaching staff is focused not only on her physical rehabilitation but also on mental readiness for future competitions, underscoring the need for balance in training and recovery. By focusing on the next season, they hope to leverage her previous training drills and insights to ensure a stronger comeback that meets both personal and national expectations in biathlon competitions.
