In 2025, the prestigious award for the best Estonian-language higher education textbook is awarded to 'Construction Geodesy' and 'Fundamentals of Human Geography.' The evaluation committee praised both textbooks for their well-considered Estonian terminology and broad applicability. Helin Kask, the chairperson of the evaluation committee and a consultant in the ministry's language policy department, emphasized the significant effort invested by the authors to compile comprehensive knowledge into these textbooks, ensuring that their teaching practices remain sustainable and aligned with current educational standards.

'Construction Geodesy' is authored by Vello Kala, Sander Varbla, Mairolt Kakko, and Artu Ellmann. This textbook covers geodetic work throughout the entire lifecycle of a construction project, starting from the analysis of initial data for construction projects and the establishment of measurement networks, to concluding with control and execution measurements and studies of deformations. The thorough scientific approach to new technologies in this textbook supports their implementation in practical construction geodesy.

The publication of these textbooks reflects an ongoing commitment to producing high-quality educational materials that are not only linguistically appropriate but also relevant for modern academic disciplines. Such initiatives contribute to the sustainability of specialty education in Estonia and ensure that students have access to updated, systematic study materials in Estonian, which is crucial for the development of various fields of study in the country.
