From Panama to Hormuz... Iran War Affects 4 Chokepoints, Karan Adani Says - We Are Prepared

Karan Adani discussed the impact of the Iran conflict on supply chains at the India Today Conclave 2026, highlighting significant disruptions at key global chokepoints.

At the India Today Conclave 2026 held in New Delhi, Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited, addressed the challenges posed by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East on global supply chains. He emphasized that the war has significantly affected critical chokepoints ranging from Panama to Hormuz, which are vital for the transportation of essential energy commodities such as crude oil and LPG. Adani assured that his company is fully prepared to manage these energy supplies despite the disruptions.

Karan Adani pointed out that particularly those commodities which rely on exports, like crude oil and LPG, have been hit hardest by the Iranian conflict. In light of these challenges, Adani Group is focusing on maintaining the smooth flow of energy imports, which is critical given the unpredictability caused by the conflict in the region. He highlighted the necessity of adapting strategies to effectively navigate these turbulent times while ensuring energy security for India.

When discussing the impact of the conflict on the India-Middle East-Europe corridor, Adani insisted on the importance of the four major chokepoints in global shipping trade: the Panama Canal, the Suez Canal, the Strait of Malacca, and the Strait of Hormuz. The ongoing unrest in these areas has resulted in considerable interruptions that affect the entire global supply chain. In response to the situation, Adani noted the need to explore ways to reduce logistics costs associated with oil and gas imports in order to mitigate the impacts of the conflict on India's energy needs.
