Bmw, Zipse's Legacy to New CEO Nedeljković

Oliver Zipse, BMW's CEO since 2019, will be succeeded by Milan Nedeljković in May 2023 after a successful tenure marked by significant accomplishments.

Oliver Zipse, who has been the CEO of BMW since 2019 and part of the company for 35 years, is set to pass the leadership baton to Milan Nedeljković on May 14, 2023. Nedeljković, a Serbian national with a long history at BMW since 1993, currently oversees production and has held numerous management positions in facilities across Oxford, Leipzig, and Munich. His leadership term is expected to run until 2031, indicating continuity in the company's strategic vision.

Under Zipse's leadership, BMW has seen considerable achievements, including being recognized as the "World Car Person of the Year 2026". His final annual report, which was presented on March 12, highlighted the company’s positive financial trajectory and innovation in electric vehicles, notably the introduction of spectacular models like the iX60, personally delivered to Pope Leone XIV in the Vatican in December. These accolades reflect his successful management and the company's growth in a highly competitive automotive industry.

As Nedeljković steps into this new role, he inherits a company that has made significant strides in sustainability and technology, ensuring its position as a leader in the luxury automotive market. The transition represents not just a change in personnel but an opportunity to build on the strong foundation laid by Zipse. With global challenges such as the shift towards electric vehicles and changing consumer preferences, Nedeljković’s experience in production will be crucial for maintaining BMW’s competitive edge and leading the brand into its next chapter.
