A new earthquake registered in Kouvola, Finland, with a magnitude of about 0.7, prompting a seismologist to predict more tremors may occur over the weekend.
A new earthquake was registered in Kouvola, Finland, on Friday afternoon, measuring approximately 0.7 in magnitude, as reported by seismologist Jari Korström from the University of Helsinki's Seismology Institute. This tremor occurred around 1:30 PM in Kuusankoski and was significantly smaller than the earthquake that hit the same area the previous Thursday night, which registered a magnitude of 1.4. Korström indicated that the Friday tremor could be classified as an aftershock and noted that it is common for earthquakes in the Kouvola and Kymenlaakso regions to occur in sequences.
