Tax Returns: The Application for Legal Entities is Open – Automatic Issuance of Fines, How Taxpayers Will Be Informed
Greece's tax authority has launched an online application for legal entities to submit their income tax returns for the year 2025, automating the fine issuance process for late submissions.
On March 13, 2026, Greece's tax authority, AADE, announced that the application for submitting income tax returns for legal entities for the tax year 2025 is now available on the digital portal myAADE. This new development is part of Greece's ongoing efforts to modernize and streamline tax administration and compliance. The automated system will not only facilitate timely submissions but will also ensure that fines for late declarations are automatically generated, hence promoting compliance among businesses.
The deadline for income tax returns submission for businesses whose fiscal year ends on December 31, 2025, spans from March 13 to July 15, 2026. Payments are structured into eight equal monthly installments, with the first due by July 31, 2026. This system is expected to ease burdens on businesses as they manage their cash flow while ensuring they meet their tax obligations within the stipulated time frame.
While the introduction of such automated systems enhances efficiency, it also raises questions about the adequacy of taxpayer education related to the new processes. The AADE's initiative aims to improve transparency and speed in tax procedures, yet ongoing communication and support will be critical in ensuring that all businesses can effectively utilize this digital service without inadvertently incurring penalties for non-compliance.
