'These shameless people, standing up...': Nirmala Sitharaman lashes out at opposition uproar in Lok Sabha
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman criticized the opposition for protesting in Parliament regarding LPG cylinder issues, calling their behavior irresponsible and emphasizing the government's commitment amidst external challenges.
On Friday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman condemned the opposition's protests in Parliament concerning the issue of LPG cylinder pricing. She accused the opposition members of trying to silence her and described their behavior as shameless, stating that regardless of the uproar, the government would not neglect its commitments. Sitharaman was responding to questions during the discussion on the second batch of supplementary grant demands in Lok Sabha.
Sitharaman pointed out that the current difficulties faced by the country are due to circumstances created in other nations, but assured that the government is actively taking steps to mitigate these challenges. This includes preparing various measures, from funding availability to other actions that would support the affected populations. She criticized the opposition's conduct during these discussions, notably their act of drinking tea on the steps of Parliament while demanding dialogue on LPG issues instead of cooperating with the government at this critical time.
Calling for unity among all parties in the face of adversity, Sitharaman urged that political entities should collaborate for the larger interest of the country and inspire hope among the citizens by supporting the government's efforts. She reassured the public that the government would remain committed to addressing the issues at hand and would continue working towards their resolution.
