Sleiti ends 10-year journey with the Tunisian national team

Tunisian footballer Naïm Sliti announces his retirement from international play after a decade with the national team.

Naïm Sliti, a prominent Tunisian footballer, has officially retired from international football after a commendable 10-year journey with the national team, commonly known as the 'Carthage Eagles'. Sliti, who was born to Tunisian immigrant parents in Marseille, France, has been a key player for Tunisia over the last decade, participating in more than 80 international matches and scoring nearly 15 goals. His skillful play as a forward and winger has left a lasting impact on Tunisian football.

In his retirement announcement, Sliti expressed a desire to make room for a new generation of talent, stating, "I think it's time to leave the space for the new generation of youth." He shared his fond memories of the national team in a heartfelt video released by the Tunisian Football Federation on social media, emphasizing that the team holds a special place in his heart and that the unforgettable moments he experienced will remain etched forever.

Having played for various clubs, including a recent stint at Qatari club Al Shamal after spending three seasons with Saudi Arabia's Al-Ettifaq, Sliti's football journey began in France with Sedan in the 2011/2012 season. He moved between several clubs, eventually finding success in leagues across the Middle East, showcasing his adaptability and skill over the years.
