President Bola Tinubu has authorized the purchase of new military hardware aimed at strengthening the Nigerian Armed Forces' efforts against terrorism and insurgency across the country. This announcement was made by Minister of Defence Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd) after a meeting with the Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Musa noted that this procurement comes as part of broader efforts to optimize military operations in light of a challenging security environment.

During the meeting, the Service Chiefs provided President Tinubu with a comprehensive update on the ongoing military campaigns and the overall security landscape. Musa highlighted the limitations of recent media reports, which have not adequately reflected the realities faced by the military. He emphasized the security forces' ongoing commitment to responding effectively to terrorist threats, particularly in light of recent attacks.

The Defence Minister also pointed out that the military has been making significant progress, claiming that security forces have successfully neutralized several high-ranking militant commanders. The acquisition of new military hardware signifies the government's commitment to ensuring national security and improving the effectiveness of operations against terrorist groups.
