Renovated, Previously Unused Facilities of Vilkpėdė Hospital in Vilnius
The Vilnius city government reported the modernization of previously unused facilities at the Vilkpėdė Hospital, now equipped for medical purposes and modern medical equipment.
The Vilnius city government has announced the modernization of three previously unused facilities at Vilkpėdė Hospital, adapting them for healthcare needs and outfitting them with new medical and technical equipment. Vice Mayor Simona Bieliūnė assured that these improvements would be beneficial not only for patients but also for hospital staff, enabling safer and more comfortable care as well as better working conditions in daily practice.
The renovated facilities are expected to significantly increase the hospital's capacity, with the palliative care department accommodating up to 20 patients at a time. Additionally, a building designated for dementia care has been adapted to provide 19 spaces, reflecting the city's commitment to enhancing specialized health care services. This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve healthcare facilities within Vilnius, aiming at better responding to the needs of its aging population.
In light of modern healthcare challenges, the hospital has also established a new department focused on infectious disease control to protect elderly patients suffering from chronic illnesses and other health issues. The facility incorporates negative pressure technology to prevent infections from spreading to other areas, demonstrating Vilnius's proactive approach to health and safety in its healthcare system.
