Homemade pistol found illegally in Biržai
A homemade pistol and ammunition were discovered during an apartment cleaning in Biržai, leading to an investigation for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
On March 12, at approximately 14:15, a man in Biržai, Lithuania, discovered a possible homemade pistol and a box containing 86 rounds of low-caliber ammunition while organizing his newly acquired apartment. The Lithuanian Police Department reported that the investigation is ongoing to determine the ownership of the illegal firearm and ammunition. The incident raises concerns about illegal weapons circulation in the region.
In a separate incident on the same day, at around 14:25 in Panevėžys, a throwing-type weapon classified as a non-firearm was found in an apartment, which is also prohibited in civilian circulation. These discoveries led to the initiation of pre-trial investigations into the unlawful possession of both firearms and non-firearms. This highlights the ongoing issue of weapon control and public safety in Lithuania.
Lithuanian law stipulates that individuals who manufacture, acquire, possess, carry, transport, send, use, or sell firearms, ammunition, explosives, or similar items without a license are committing a serious offense. The Police Department continues to emphasize the importance of compliance with weapon regulations to prevent illegal activities and enhance community safety.
