Woman shot in Rītabuļļos in early March
A woman was shot while walking in a wooded area in Rītabuļļos, Riga, with authorities investigating the incident as a potential criminal case.
On March 4th in Rītabuļļos, a suburb of Riga, a woman was critically injured when she was shot in the back during a stroll with her friend. Remarkably, she reported experiencing sharp pains but did not hear a gunshot, and only discovered the bullet hole and blood after lifting her jacket. She managed to reach a nearby house, where emergency services were called and the police were notified.
Upon arrival at Stradiņš Hospital, medical staff found a foreign object close to her spine, but due to a lack of a suitable specialist, she was advised to return home with instructions for self-treatment and to remain under observation by her family doctor. This week, she was eventually admitted to Rīga East Clinical University Hospital, where she underwent surgery on Wednesday to address the injury.
The incident has prompted law enforcement to launch a criminal investigation, and it is anticipated that a bullet examination will be conducted to determine whether the woman was shot with an air gun or a regular firearm. This case highlights concerns regarding safety in public spaces and the potential risks associated with firearms in urban settings.
