Siniaková withdrew from singles, but is in the finals of doubles. She will face an unpopular duo
Czech tennis player Kateřina Siniaková advanced to the doubles final at Indian Wells alongside partner Taylor Townsend after a strong semifinal victory.
Czech tennis player Kateřina Siniaková, paired with American Taylor Townsend, has reached the doubles final at the Indian Wells tournament after an impressive performance in the semifinals. The duo, seeded third in the event, convincingly defeated the Italian pair of Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini with a score of 6:2, 6:2, marking their fourth consecutive win in the tournament without dropping a set. They achieved a dominant victory within an hour, breaking their opponents' serve four times while maintaining a perfect service record themselves.
The finals will see Siniaková and Townsend compete against the Serbian-Kazakh duo of Aleksandra Kruničová and Anna Danilinová, with whom they have a history of closely-fought matches. This will be the second meeting of the year between the Czech-American pair and the fifth-seeded Kruničová and Danilinová; previously, Siniaková and Townsend lost to them in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open back in January. The upcoming match holds significance as Siniaková aims to avenge that earlier defeat, as well as their past loss in the quarterfinals of Roland Garros last year.
Despite her success in doubles, Siniaková had withdrawn from the singles competition just two days prior to the semifinal due to a foot injury against Elina Svitolina. There were concerns about her ability to continue in the doubles event following this setback. However, her resilience and ability to perform at a high level have shown her determination to compete in this prestigious tournament, further emphasizing the unpredictability and excitement of the sports landscape in the tournament, which takes place on a hard court and features both men's and women's events.
