Tokyu Toyoko Line and Minatomirai Line Suspended Due to Power Outage, Passengers Evacuate on Foot
A power outage caused the suspension of train services on the Tokyu Toyoko Line and Minatomirai Line, leading approximately 900 passengers to walk to the nearest stations.
On the afternoon of the 13th around 12:20 PM, a power outage occurred between the Okurayama and Minatomirai segments of the Tokyu Toyoko Line and the Minatomirai Line, resulting in two trains becoming stranded. Approximately 900 passengers were forced to leave the trains and walk along the tracks to reach nearby stations. According to information provided by Tokyu Corporation and Yokohama High-Speed Railway, an express train bound for Wako City made an emergency stop between the Bancho and Tohakuraku stations, while another limited express heading for Motomachi-Chukagai also halted between Bancho and Yokohama. Passengers from these services were instructed to walk to Tokyu's Tohakuraku station and Yokohama station respectively.
As of 2 PM, services on the Tokyu Toyoko Line and Minatomirai Line between Kikuna and Motomachi-Chukagai remain suspended, with no expected resumption time provided. The cause of the power outage is still unclear, but thankfully there have been no reports of injuries from the incident. At around 2:30 PM, commuters at Yokohama station were seen checking the electronic bulletin boards for updates regarding the suspension. A man in his sixties mentioned that he needed to get to a hospital but was concerned about the lengthy delay and considered taking a taxi if the trains did not resume soon.
