Sambhal: Friday prayers with security at Jama Masjid today, three PAC companies deployed

In Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, the final Friday prayers have been conducted under heavy security at Jama Masjid due to potential unrest.

In Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, the Jama Masjid hosted the final Friday prayers, known as Alvida Juma, amidst significant security measures. The administration has deployed three companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), alongside 200 recruit constables and police forces from various stations to ensure law and order during the prayers. Given the sensitivity of the moment, especially with potential protests related to the Iran-Israel conflict, a complete ban on offering prayers on the street outside the mosque has been instituted to prevent gatherings.

In anticipation of possible unrest, the local administration convened a Peace Committee meeting led by the Circle Officer (CO) to address concerns about protests and overcrowding. Security has been heightened with comprehensive monitoring, including drones surveilling the area to detect any suspicious activities. SP Krishna Kumar Bishnoi confirmed that the police are in a state of readiness to maintain peace and ensure that the prayers are conducted smoothly, highlighting that various security measures including CCTV surveillance are in place throughout the area.

The situation is further complicated by the enforcement of Section 144 in the district, which restricts gatherings and maintains public order. The authorities are vigilant, constantly monitoring the environment to mitigate any potential risks, reflecting the precarious balance between upholding religious practices and ensuring community safety in the face of heightened tensions related to international events.
