Qatar condemns Israeli attacks on Lebanon
Qatar has condemned the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, calling for international accountability to enforce respect for humanitarian law.
On Friday, Qatar issued a strong condemnation of the Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon, branding them a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701. The statement from the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the international community to fulfill its responsibility to compel Israel to cease its repeated assaults and respect international agreements.
Qatar reaffirmed its steadfast support for the Lebanese Republic, emphasizing Lebanon's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The Gulf state expressed its commitment to backing efforts that promote Lebanon's stability and prosperity in the face of ongoing conflicts that threaten the region.
The Israeli aggression is part of a wider regional conflict that has escalated, particularly concerning perceived threats from Iran, leading to significant casualties in Lebanon. Reports indicate that the recent Israeli bombardments have resulted in 687 deaths, 1,774 injuries, and the displacement of approximately 822,000 people, highlighting the urgent humanitarian crisis stemming from these attacks.
