Predator lured woman to popular Brighton park before horror rape attack
A man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for raping a woman in Dorset Gardens, Brighton, after luring her there following a night out.
Alieu George, a 46-year-old man, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison following his conviction for the rape of a 35-year-old woman in Dorset Gardens, Brighton. The attack took place after George approached the victim while she was out for drinks in June last year. He managed to lure her to the park, where he assaulted her when they were alone.
On June 22, the police were alerted after noticing the woman appearing distressed while in the park with George. Following the investigation, George was arrested and subsequently found guilty on charges of both sexual assault and rape during a trial held last December. The case highlights the dangers faced by individuals in public spaces, especially in urban areas where such incidents can occur.
Detective Constable Daisy Alden commented on the case, acknowledging the victim's immense courage in coming forward and sharing her ordeal. The sentencing serves as a reminder about the serious implications of sexual violence and the importance of reporting such crimes to ensure the safety of others in the community.
