Minister Jaramillo and the Deputy Minister of Aquaculture and Fishing traveled to the United States for the signing of the ART
Ecuador's Minister of Production, Luis Alberto Jaramillo, visited the U.S. to sign the Reciprocal Trade Agreement (ART) benefiting Ecuadorian exports.
Luis Alberto Jaramillo, the Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, and Investments of Ecuador, traveled to Washington, D.C. on March 12 to sign the Reciprocal Trade Agreement (ART) between Ecuador and the United States, with the signing ceremony scheduled for March 13. Accompanying him is Deputy Minister of Aquaculture and Fishing, Alexia Alcívar.
The signing of the ART is significant as it is expected to eliminate the additional tariff imposed by the U.S. on Ecuadorian imports. This tariff, which has been in place since February 24, affects various Ecuadorian products. The agreement will directly benefit 130 different types of Ecuadorian goods, enhancing trade relations between the two countries and facilitating more favorable market access for Ecuadorian exporters.
The elimination of the tariff is anticipated to boost Ecuador's economy by increasing the competitiveness of its products in the U.S. market. This move demonstrates a commitment to strengthening bilateral trade ties and can serve as a precedent for future agreements, reflecting a growing emphasis on trade partnerships in the Americas.
