In Conceição do Coité, Bahia, a property owner has taken legal action against a bricklayer who allegedly abandoned a construction project for kitnets before its completion. The woman had contracted the worker for the construction of 10 units for R$ 110 thousand, but after paying almost the entire amount and with only 50% of the work finished, the bricklayer stopped coming to the site without any explanation.

The lawsuit details that the property owner entered into a service contract with the bricklayer in March 2025, with an expected completion date set for November of the same year. She made an initial payment of R$ 20 thousand and continued with monthly payments of R$ 10 thousand, totaling R$ 105.700 of the agreed amount. However, by early December, the bricklayer neglected the project, leaving the work incomplete and the owner at a significant financial loss, which she estimates at over R$ 55 thousand due to the abandonment of the construction.

This case highlights the legal challenges that can arise in construction projects, especially regarding the obligations of both contractors and clients. It underlines the need for proper oversight and management in residential construction projects, as financial losses can have lasting impacts on property owners who invest heavily in such developments.
