Michigan Police Respond to Active Shooter at Israel Temple
Several law enforcement agencies responded to an active shooter situation at the Israel Temple in West Bloomfield, Michigan.
Authorities reported an active shooter situation at the Israel Temple located in West Bloomfield around 12:30 PM. The Michigan State Police confirmed the ongoing incident and advised the community to stay clear of the area to allow for police intervention. In addition to responding to the immediate situation, law enforcement also increased patrols in other places of worship nearby as a precautionary measure.
FBI Director Kash Patel tweeted that agency personnel are also on the scene dealing with what is characterized as a vehicle-ramming and active shooter incident. There has been an exchange of gunfire within the synagogue complex, raising serious concerns over the safety of congregants and the surrounding community.
Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard noted that a security guard engaged the shooter in an exchange of gunfire. Investigators are still working to determine if there were additional suspects involved in the situation but confirmed that no suspects were in custody at this time.
