Amazon obtains injunction against Perplexity's AI tool in the USA

A federal court in San Francisco granted Amazon an injunction against Perplexity AI over the use of automated shopping bots accessing Amazon accounts without authorization.

A federal district court in San Francisco has granted an injunction to Amazon against Perplexity AI in a case concerning the use of automated shopping bots. The decision, made by District Judge Maxine Chesney of the Northern District of California, came on the 10th of the month and indicated that there were sufficient grounds to believe that Perplexity's tool might be accessing Amazon customer accounts without permission. This ruling temporarily blocks the startup's shopping agent from operating on Amazon's e-commerce platform. Furthermore, Judge Chesney allowed a seven-day suspension on the enforcement of the order to accommodate an appeal from Perplexity AI, which has already indicated its intention to contest the ruling.
