Earlier today, the road over Súðavíkurhlíð was closed around midday after six avalanches were recorded on that route. Snowfalls have also occurred in the mountains above Flateyri, contributing to dangerous conditions. Other roads in the area, such as Klettháls and Steingrímsfjarðarheiði, are currently impassable due to adverse weather. Given the current weather conditions, travel on the West Fjords roads is expected to be challenging, with potential for sudden road closures. Heavy snow is affecting areas such as Ísafjarðardjúp, and snow drifts are reported on several high passes, prompting a yellow weather warning for blizzard conditions until 6 AM tomorrow, indicating that travelers should be cautious and prepared for disruptions.
