Olli Hiidensalo succeeded in Otepää

Finnish biathlete Olli Hiidensalo achieved the best result for Finland at the World Cup event in Otepää, Estonia, finishing 14th in the 10km sprint race.

Olli Hiidensalo represented Finland admirably at the Biathlon World Cup competition held in Otepää, Estonia, where he finished in an impressive 14th place in the 10-kilometer sprint event. His performance was notable as he managed to shoot perfectly without any penalties, a significant achievement in biathlon where precision and speed are equally crucial. This result marks a solid performance for Hiidensalo, who is establishing himself in the international biathlon arena.

In the same event, fellow Finnish athlete Arttu Heikkinen initially showed promise by keeping close to the leading pack after the second shooting round. However, his performance waned as the race progressed; despite being on track for a strong finish some 27 seconds behind the leaders, he ultimately finished over a minute behind, ending the race in 24th position. The race underscored the intense competitiveness of the event, with Heikkinen eventually trailing behind several other athletes.

The race was won by Norway's Sturla Holm Lægreid, who outperformed his closest competitors Emeline Jacquelin and Philipp Nawrath. The Finnish team collectively faced challenges, with Tuomas Harjula placing 38th, Tero Seppälä 62nd, and Otto Invenius 77th, indicating a need for improvement as they head into future competitions on the World Cup circuit.
